'I built Safety Rocks on a foundation of strong values ' but it is no accident that our first value is 'fun.' People remember 'fun' and what they remember, they apply.'
Rocking safety since 2015, Safety Rocks is on a mission to shake-up the world of health and safety training. Health and safety is often perceived as being tedious, dull and boring– a necessary evil – but founder and director Carla Crocombe wants to change that. She has built the company on the principles of making health and safety training memorable, relevant, engaging and – most importantly – tailored to the specific needs of the client and their industry.
Rather than telling individuals what they can and can’t do, Safety Rocks believes in influencing by informing, nurturing a positive culture and happier workforce. They have done away with the ‘tick box’ approach to health and safety training, instead seeking to re-energise a business from top to bottom; reshaping the culture with engaged employees who are focused on accelerating performance, whilst keeping themselves and others, safe and healthy.
The Safety Rocks team take the time to get to know each client organisation, its risks, its unique culture and its people and their challenges. By understanding exactly what an organisation is trying to achieve as well as the factors that may be hindering success, they create truly tailored programmes of training and education. These engage every member of the organisation and energise the whole business. They always leave a lasting impression on the people they work with and create a deeper understanding and engagement with every interaction
A NEBOSH Gold Learning Partner, Safety Rocks has developed strategic partnerships with pioneering companies in:
- Transport
- Pharmaceuticals and Healthcare
- Military Engineering
- Construction
- Property and Maintenance
- Manufacturing & Logistics
- Energy
and have forged long-term partnerships to drive mutual success with leading national and international organisations including Smith and Nephew, Birmingham International Airport and Whirlpool Corporation.
With a unique, enthusiastic and flexible approach, off-the-shelf training is off the table with Safety Rocks. Their learner-centric, agile programmes do away with the need for individual team members to give up valuable days away from their roles, or wade through pages of risk factors and regulations. Instead, they harness the power of microlearning and create solutions using a blend of in-person and virtual training. This fresh, modern and engaging approach allows them to renew a team’s understanding without lengthy (and tedious) hours in a meeting room, improving knowledge retention, performance and productivity to facilitate lasting behavioural change.
Their diverse, young (at heart), dynamic and funky team is recruited not just for their health and safety knowledge and training skills but also for their ability to engage an audience, break people out of preconceived views of ‘them and us’ and to present concepts in a fresh and enticing way. They always aim to give more than they receive in payment, and to set the standard of excellence.
It will come as no surprise that Safety Rocks is an award-winning company. Winners of SME Elite Award: “Best for Bespoke In-company Training” they have gained recognition in the industry for successfully integrating health and safety management into existing business systems.
Now as sponsors of the Safety and Health Excellence Awards 2023, they are excited to recognise who have gone above and beyond to shake-up the world of health and safety.
During her interview Carla said…
“For far too long, Health and Safety has been seen as ‘pale, stale and (dare I say it) male’ and yet that simply isn’t what people want. We’re here to disrupt the health and safety world by showing just what is possible with a bit of imagination and a commitment to break the mould.”
“If Health and Safety is seen as a set of rules and regulations, it will never be what it truly needs to be – a commitment from every person in an organisation to care about everyone they connect with. When delivered in the right way, health and safety training shows that being risk aware and taking appropriate action is the caring way to act. And, added bonus, it will save an organisation money and be kind the environment too.”
“I built Safety Rocks on a foundation of strong values – but it is no accident that our first value is ‘fun.’ People remember ‘fun’ and what they remember, they apply.”
