Hand Arm Vibration Assessment

Safety First Group Stand: 3/F56

The importance of hand/arm vibration assessments

Hand Arm Vibration Syndrome (HAVS) is a disabling condition that may prevent the ability to do fine work and bring on painful attacks in cold temperatures, all of which will ultimately affect your workplace efficiency.

Hand-arm vibration comes from using handheld power tools, and prolonged use can cause painful, long-term damage to hands and fingers.

Why do I need to book an assessment?

The HSE estimates that almost 2 million people in the UK are at risk of Hand arm vibration syndrome, and recommend that regular vibration assessments take place to:

  • Identify & mitigate health risks
  • Help avoid the loss of skilled workers
  • Prevent costly compensation claims

The Safety First way

We like to place an emphasis on safety first, and because of this we’ve come up with a unique way to measure how much time your workforce can safely use certain pieces of equipment in order to comply with the HSE vibration regulations. Following a thorough risk assessment and evaluation, our skilled technicians can provide you with vibration measurements, as well as provide asset registers and label tools and equipment on your behalf.

Every organisation is unique and no two jobs are the same, so we can work together with you to come up with a bespoke visual process and schedule further assessments in order to guarantee workforce safety and to ensure you are always fully compliant.

Every Safety First technician is highly-qualified and experienced in assessing your workplace for risks and proposing measures for eliminating or minimising these risks.

As part of our basic assessment we will:

  1. Identify where risks might come from
  2. Advise who is likely to be at risk of exposure to vibration
  3. Test tools and equipment for vibration magnitude levels
  4. Recommend which steps you need to take to be compliant
  5. Identify those employees who need frequent health checks
  6. Identify where risks might come from
