Gastec Toxic Gas Detection System

SKC Stand: 3/G94

The Gastec 810-CG-1 system can simply, quickly, and simultaneously measure four kinds of harmful contaminants (CO, CO2, Water vapour, and Oil mist) contained in compressed breathing air (cylinder or compressor).

The prime importance in the case of emergency response to chemical spills, or investigation after a fire, is to quickly determine any gases present and their concentrations. With the Gastec Toxic Gas Detection System this can be accomplished quickly, easily and accurately on the site, using 12 types of Gastec Detector Tubes and the Gas Sampling Pump. As the substances to be measured could be hazardous, adequate precautions should be taken to ensure safety.

  • Fast and easy determination of pollutants
  • Portable - no power supply required
  • Minimal training required - follow the simple flowchart
  • Cost effective
  • Minimal maintenance compared to electronic detection systems

Measurement Procedure

1. Confirm the air current direction using the Smoke Tester Kit
2. Connect the Extension Hose if necessary, to take a sample from a hard-to-reach area or from a manhole
3. Break off both ends of a Polytec I (Part Number 810-107) tube and connect it to the pump (or to the end of the extension hose if used)
4. Pull out the handle of the pump, wait for the predetermined sampling time, and examine the tube for colour changes
5. Proceed with the measurements by using the 12 types of detector tubes, as directed by the Toxic Gas Determination Flowchart
6. Finally, determine the pollutants from the measurement results
